Boating US&Canada App Reviews

Georgian bay

I used this app on the weekend, and it was fantastic!!! Easy to use and handy to have on your phone. I have another GPS unit I bought for the boat, but this one was much better. I paid over 500$ for the unit I didnt use and 20 bucks for this one. You wont regret getting this app. Thanks Kelly

Awesome

Amazing app for exploration of new lakes. Cant believe the lack of reviews

Fantastic

Great app good bang for your buck. Lets you know where to fuel get moorage ect

Well worth it!

Amazing app even has lakes that you wouldnt expect to be on it! Well done!!

Reeled in

App is garbage. Advertised that it shows thousands of lakes , but Im sitting on a huge lake in northern Ontario and it shows lakes on either side of me Whoever wrote these reviews must be the app developers. Stay away. 15 bucks wasted

Poor features

Without the "course up option" I rated this as poor. Without this feature you can get very confused and also the updating of the GPS seems be very slow in a tight track and you can get yourself into trouble. I asked for my money back

Good app needs work

App needs to be updated to not auto lock while you are using it. Other than that it it very accurate and helpful!

an improvement

I used the older version and was disappointed that the Navionics never updated till now. This version is an improvement,I like now you can get the depth of water by just pressing the finger momentarily and it is displayed.

Great for Georgian Bay!

This is a fantastic app, especially for the price. Great features and options, map clarity is great, and the ability to download specific regions to your iPhone for offline use by highlighting any specific area is fantastic - allowing for use out on the water even where there is no cellular service or WiFi. I use this for Georgian Bay. I also use iNavX with the official CHS Charts and find this app to be more useful for iPhone use. And at a fraction of the cost. Great work.

Not for Navigation Purposes

As a professional mariner I cannot recommend this application for navigational purposes. The current version loses its chart data randomly. A reinstall and fresh download of chart data is then required to see the necessary chart. This task requires time and data. Either or both may not be available when a chart is required!

iOS 8 breaks this app

This was fairly decent and a good backup to a sounder or dedicated plotter. However the recent iOS 8 update is not sitting well with this app. Aerial photos jump about the screen as you navigate. Not sure about the accuracy of other elements like bathymetry and gps location but seeing these all move randomly on the screen as you use does not I still confidence. Very disappointing on a product that is really expensive. Support was polite but completely ineffectual.

Really great app

This is a great app and a must have for the fisherman. I use it all the time, for boat fishing and shore. Would have given it a 5 but can be a bit glitchy on zooming and some detail on lakes can be limited, but usually sonar can fix that problem

Ebb/Flood colours confusing

New feature that allows you to see currents while viewing maps is great, except the arrow colours are no longer correct. It used to show a red arrow for flood, and blue for ebb, but now it shows red for both when the current is increasing, and blue for both when the current is decreasing.

Dont buy!! Money grabbers.

I bought this app about 2 years ago. It was 20$ and offered lifetime map updates. That was the primary reason I purchased this mapping software. Obviously that changed and they are now charging for updates (and numerous other features that were initially included). Apple needs to address issues like this. There are other alternatives out there I would definitely recommend over Navionics.

no good for iPad

Be careful, this is a low resolution app, meant for phones, not your iPad. I downloaded it since it said for mobile devices, and compatible with iPad, but it really isnt. If you want to use navionics, get the Boating HD app instead. Ive complained to apple, but got no response, even though I spent $100 on the HD app after.

Great!

Great app for your smart phone. While out on the water fishing. Shows accurate depths and warnings Also has a great plotter option for points of interests.

Navionics Apps

The Apps have truly been a huge waste of money and a great disappointment. I have spent hundreds of dollars on these apps and their chips for depth finders. I purchased the App for Canada and US which now you have to purchase annually but it was not the case when I purchased the App originally. I purchased the annual upgrade two months ago and it is now asking me for another $16!!

Disappointment

I dont even wanna give this a star. In all honestly it lacks for lakes in Manitoba, or atleast some of the popular lakes in Big Whiteshell and Nopiming Provincial Park. A waste of 16.99$ indeed and then want another 16.99$ when the subscription expires? Lol. Yeah maybe if you add more lakes! Waste of time.

Navionics US & Canada

Fabulous.. Perfect for the Northern Pacific coast.

Thieves! Zero Stars.

I bought this app two years ago as a stand-alone purchase. Now Navionics has unilaterally decided to change our original agreement to a subscription model. THIS IS FRAUD! Find an alternative to these scum suckers.
